Yes Chef — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 July 2026

Yes Chef ("the App", "we", "us") is operated by NHC Labs (Nevin Bagley), Luxembourg. We respect your privacy and only collect what we need to give you a personal, useful cooking experience. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights.

Contact for any privacy question or request: nevin@nhclabs.com.

1. What we collect

Account information (via "Sign in with Google"). When you sign in with your Google account, we receive your name, email address, profile photo, and a Google account identifier. We use this to create and secure your personal account.

Your cooking profile. The preferences you set in the App: skill/cook level, dietary choices, allergies, saved recipes, language, theme, and similar settings. Your profile, settings, saved recipes, and subscription entitlements are synced to our own server, keyed to your verified Google account identifier, so they follow you across devices.

Content you publish (public). If you use the community features, we store the content you choose to post: reviews (star rating + text), community cooks (a shared dish with caption and rating), and your public profile (display name, avatar, short bio). See section 1a below — this content is public.

Moderation and safety data. To keep the community safe, we process the content you submit through automated moderation before it is published, and we log reports you file about other content and the moderation decisions we make (approve/reject/hide).

Subscription information. If you subscribe to Confident Cook, our payment partners tell us whether your subscription is active, when it renews, and your country of purchase. We never see or store your card details — payment is handled entirely by Google Play.

Usage & device data. Basic diagnostic and usage data (e.g. app version, device type, crash logs, feature usage) to keep the App working and improve it.

1a. Content you publish is public

Some of the App is a community. Content you choose to publish — your reviews, your community cooks (dish, caption, rating), and your public profile (display name, avatar, short bio) — is PUBLIC and visible to other users once approved. Please do not include anything private or sensitive in this content. You can edit or delete your posts, but copies may persist in backups or in others' devices for a period.

To protect the community, everything posted is screened by automated moderation (a fast heuristic plus a strict AI text-moderation check) before it goes public, with uncertain cases held for human review. If you report content, or if we take a moderation decision, we keep a record of it for safety, abuse-prevention, and legal-compliance purposes (including, for seriously illegal material such as child-sexual-abuse content, reporting to the relevant authorities). See the Terms of Service for the full community rules.

2. How we use your information

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Who we share it with (service providers)

We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf:

These providers are bound to use your data only to deliver their service to us.

4. Legal basis (for users in the EU/EEA/UK — GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of: your consent (Google Sign-In), performance of a contract (providing the App and your subscription), and our legitimate interests (security and improving the App). You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account.

5. International transfers

Some providers are located outside your country (e.g. the United States). Where data is transferred internationally, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal profile data within 90 days, except where we must keep limited records for legal or accounting reasons (e.g. proof of a transaction, or moderation/report logs kept for safety and legal compliance).

7. Your rights

You can: access your data, correct it, delete your account and data, export your data, and object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, use the in-App "Delete my account" option or contact us at nevin@nhclabs.com. EU/UK users may also complain to their local data protection authority.

8. Children

Yes Chef is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date; significant changes will be highlighted in the App.
